I enjoyed this book way more than I was expecting! I wasn’t a fan of We Hunt the Flame as I just couldn’t connect to her writing but I loved A Tempest of Tea!

I really liked the city setting and the concept of the tea house by day, blood house by night. It was a really fast paced story that I couldn’t put down. Each character was compelling and i thoroughly enjoyed learning about them and their histories. I can’t pick a favourite because they were all so fun to read and their dynamics worked really well together.

The build up to the heist and the heist itself was fun and chaotic but I enjoyed how it played out. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say it didn’t go how I expected!

Mateo was a bit of an enigma and I desperately want to know more about him and see if some of my guesses are correct! I also really loved Flick’s growth and seeing her choose her family and the version of herself she likes best. Jim was also a highlight, his bond with Arthie was so special - they gave slight Kaz/ Jesper vibes but with more obvious feeling. Arthie was interesting to unravel and I loved her intelligence and strength and her anger. The whole cast was great really, it was such a great read and the ending had my gasping and I cannot wait for the sequel! Im excited to see the characters now that some of their secrets have been striped.

Definitely a surprising read for me but I’m so happy I loved it!

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
