I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey through this series and this book ended it wonderfully. Everything came full circle from where Audrey Rose started from and explored the unanswered questions the author has been hinting about. I really liked the big ending with the murderer; it was definitely terrifying and increased danger and tension from the previous book. I would’ve liked more murder in the run up, it was a lot of research and thinking about things. I guessed the murdered earlier than Audrey Rose so I wanted her to get it quicker but other than that it was a great mystery.
The reason we had less murder mystery was one; we already had set up and knowledge and two; the romance. Audrey Rose and Thomas’s romance was far more prevalent in this book than in previous. Not only was the mystery coming full circle but their romance peaked and all the big steps were attempted (to varying degrees of success). Audrey Rose’s romantic feelings took up more space than usual as did her upset. I actually really enjoyed historical romance so I was here for it however be prepared going in for more romance or else I think the mystery lovers might be disappointed.
It came together beautifully and ended their story the way it deserved to be ended. I enjoyed the setting, exploring the historical setting in a new country made to feel fresh and exciting. The side characters stood out more in this story and I liked how involved they all were. A great ending to an unforgettable series.
