Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare - Book Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This was my favourite book of the series! It started off great and kept up the pace and excitement all the way through. FINALLY all the secrets come out and what a surprise, everyone is better off for it 🤣 and all the romances come together at last! Thomas and Alistair are my favourites, their romance was so sweet and I loved the growth Alistair had to get to a point where he could be with Thomas and accepted by the friendship group.

I also really loved Jesse and that he got a chance to be apart of the world of again and with people who cared. And as much as I despised Grace during the first two books I grudgingly forgave her in this one. Her attitude was repentant and she finally owned her decision whilst finding her place.

Ariadne and Anna’s relationship was always wonderful and again they both had such beautiful development of self that allowed them to be with each other. Ari in particular was a delight, she snuck up on me as she had been a relatively small character but it was great to get her pov and see her be brave and take a stand for herself. I adore how this all turned out in the end.

The plot itself was compelling and built up well from the other books. If certainly took some twists I wasn’t expecting and was very high stakes. I loved what the group did and how they all tackled it. Really amazing and allowed everyone to finally settle all their problems. A great concept and execution.

The relationship dynamics are the highlight of this series. It has such a large foundation family group and I adore all their relationships and the evolution they all had within themselves and with each other. It was so special and definitely my favourite friendship group of all the shadowhunter series. The epilogue made me so happy honestly.

An amazing end to this series!

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
