Chasing the Duke by Tracy Sumner - Book Review

Chasing the Duke is one of the authors multiple shorter 12 days of Christmas books and I really loved it! For a shorter book I was surprised by how quickly the author grabbed my attention and how successfully she drew me into the characters. Even before the end of the first chapter I was already full invested in Tristan and Camille’s story.

The story was full of delicious romance and steam and unstoppable love and longing between the two characters. Despite not having seen each other in years and having only had a relationship because Tristan was best friends with Camillie’s brother, the feelings they had for one another felt inevitable, as though was no other option but for them to end up together.

Camille was so fun and bold and brave to show her feelings so quickly so I couldn’t help but love her. And Tristan was sexy, funny, kind and he, with the help of Camille, was slowly healing from his trauma. And I have to say I loved Camille’s aunt - she was so funny and such a delight to read. I loved how open and bold she was, and how Camille mirrored this, neither one caring much about society. Her aunt and Countess Milburn sneaky plotting was hilarious!

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance and since this was a shorter book it meant there was as a lot less miscommunication than usual and that meant we got scenes where they both actually discussed feelings! Hurrah!

I loved how the title of the book linked in with the story and thoroughly enjoyed how it all wrapped up. A delightful romantic story that hit the spot. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
