Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten - Book Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

The setting and vibe was great, I loved the concept of the poison eating, mortum, the catacombs and the church vs crown situation. I also loved Bastion! I’m not really a fan of the brooding, self hating vibes of Gabriel and that type of love interest. I prefer the charming and kind of savage Bastain who is also just full of emotions and thoughts and who was the only one honest with Lore. I hate Gabe’s hypocrisy. Excuse the mini rant 🤣

The ending was great with some things I hadn’t expected and just the concept was great. However I didn’t particular care about Lore, and wanted less constant Gabe time. Also I got little bored in the middle as they hunted for clues - the court goings on didn’t pull me in as much as I wanted it to. It felt very classic fantasy but not a standout for me as much as I liked the concept.

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
