Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson - Book Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After finished my reread of AGGGTM I immediately reread Good Girl, Bad Blood. It was actually so fun to read them back to back because there’s not much time between the two stories and so I felt right there with Pip and all the facts of the first case were fresh in my mind.

I really liked that this became personal for Pip, it’s a case that she couldn’t say no to and forced her to face her darker side once more. It deepened the bones between Pip and her friends and I really liked how the search for Jamie went and her relationship with the Reynolds’. The podcast was such a fun expansion of the first book and I liked the dynamic it brought to Pip’s new case.

Something I didn’t notice the first time was Pip slow hero corruption arc. This book she really begins to understand that the version of her who will cross any line and fight for her beliefs is actually who she is. She gets obsessed with these cases and she lies to the people she loves and she doesn’t apologise. I really enjoyed seeing her go down this path and the connections she makes with unlikely characters.

The plot itself was compelling and turned sharply at the end which I loved. Holly keeps her stories unpredictable and again, I had forgotten so much it felt like a new story. The case and how it ends marks Pip far more deeply than she expected and it becomes a part of her. Such an amazing sequel

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
