Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m very glad I reread divine rivals first, it got me back into it all and let me get invested in the war and the hardships they all faced. I also fell in love with iris and roman’s love story all over again.

However whilst DR was a love story, Ruthless Vows was about the war. I think a lot of people expected more of a love story again and might have been distracted but personally, I expected this and did enjoy learning more of Dacre and seeing the under realm and exploring that side of the war. I liked that we got more enchanted letters and that the story moved to using them to make a difference in the war as well as letting their love shine through them. I appreciated the romance aspect and that it didn’t regress or start over but gave us the richer after-marriage dynamic.

I really enjoyed spending more time with the side characters and getting invested in them; Tobias, Helena, even Prindle. The moment near the end where we saw what happened to them was so emotional.

I also really loved that Iris and Attie were the ones who stood up at the end, and that Roman had a completely different journey but it was just as essential. The writing was just beautiful and evoked so much feeling, especially the end in Oath 🥺 I think this was the perfect ending to their story, the war and all the side characters we’ve come to love.

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
