The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland - Book Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This isn’t quite my usual genre but I really enjoyed this story! I definitely need to read more thriller/ horrory books.

The invocations follows three women who for varying reasons get wrapped up in finding the killer of witches. I liked the introduction to each of the women and getting to learn about their lives and motivations, it was paced really well so that key pieces of background were offered when they made the most sense. The mystery of the killer was interesting and kept me invested - and when it all came to a head things got intense! I was scared for the main characters and it hit the horror aspect of the story. It was thrilling and the fmc’s definitely suffered but it was an excellent climax. I loved how everything came to together and the history and why it all.

Overall I really loved this story, the magic system was really cool and something I haven’t seen before, the characters were all relatable and their journeys were really wonderful. The mystery was entertaining and had a dark ending - all in all a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author and more of this genre!

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
