This was exactly what I expected it to be! I loved the main characters from the get go, their entertaining personalities drew me in straight away. I also adored the alternate Tang dynasty China setting and the concept of alchemy and the rich using it to live longer was a great concept. The challenges she faced were well delivered and kept as fast pace and intriguing storyline. I actually ended up reading this in one day, it kept me that engaged. I don’t want to say much about plot but every time I expected one thing to happen the author took it in a different direction. I’m excited to see where she takes the story in the sequel, the ending was wonderful and high stakes but she set up the next book well!
