This was my first book from this author and it certainly won’t be my last! This was everything I wanted it to be and more.

I loved the summer town setting - with the clear division between locals and summer people - and seeing Paige reunite with her best friend and crush. I really liked that we get to see the summer she went missing in real time and see it as Paige did. It offers hints of possibilities and connected me with all the characters.

Then we get the summer after and the hunt for answers. Paige was a fun character to follow; she’s not a born investigator and makes some mistakes on the way which is a fun change from true crime obsessed MCs. The romance was cute and I enjoyed the sweet moments and teenage angst of it all. Their team up to uncover the mystery worked well.

The mystery itself kept me invested the whole way through, I loved unraveling the secrets left behind and actually it took a turn I wasn’t expecting with more plot threads than I originally suspected! And the addition of The Girl chapters really pulled it together and broadened the scope when everything was revealed - really well done and it added a lot.

Overall it was an excellent YA thriller and I’ve already bought some of her backlist books as I need more! Definitely hit the spot and gave me a mystery i found embroil myself in and characters I could care about!

A bit about me… I love all things morally grey and magical!

My favourite series is Red Rising and I’m sucker for found family.

I drink way too much tea and live out my fantasy dreams by visiting medieval festivals and doing archery!

If I’m not reading you’ll find me writing my book or dreaming of far away places.
