I have been waiting for Dash and Theo’s story every since I first met them in an earlier book and it delivered!
Dash is known for his charm and his insanely popular book on how to cheat. He has made the most of his infamy and gets into a lot of trouble especially with the ladies. (Also if you’re looking for a Scottish hero then look no further!) Theo on the other hand disguises her true self under layers of propriety and books. She loves knowledge and wants nothing more than to go to Cambridge. Whilst she wishes she could have more of the opportunities afforded to men, Dash fails to explore his full potential as a writer.
They developed a deep friendship/ secret romantic feelings for each other whilst writing his book together. And that is the foundation upon which this story is based. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, marriage is proposed with the condition that Dash and Theo remains friends and love stays out of the equation.
Suffice to say this doesn’t go to plan but with trust issues and a past and face Dash can’t change, they have a lot to work through. I enjoyed the journey they had and liked that they already had a friendship before their marriage. Their story was messy and unexpected but so perfect for these two characters. Dash supported Theo is all her endeavours and together they found a life neither of them had ever imagined. Also the steam was great! Theo was bold and ready to explore her sexuality much to Dash’s surprise and excitement. If you enjoy steam then you won’t be disappointed.
Also I was beyond happy that Jasper Noble played a role in this as he did in the last book as well. I love him and his mysterious unknowable background, I cannot wait for his story - I believe it’s the next one in this series? I love that the Leighton Cluster adopted him into their group even though no one seems sure how that happened exactly 😂 and he’s shown multiple times that he wants to help the group and goes out of his way to help when he can.
My favourite thing about this series is the relationships between the guys, they are such a beautiful friendships group and I love seeing them support each other and help with each others romantic problems. Each book builds up these friendships more and we always get the whole Leighton cluster cameo in each book and it’s just so beautiful to see them all together and see how past couples are doing 🥹
If you like friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, bookish heroine and reformed rakes then this is the book for you! I love this series so much and the found family vibes of the Leighton Cluster makes my heart happy. I would highly recommend this book and this series.
