(The review is: I loved this book but I though it was going to be a standalone and the cliffhanger killed me)
For some reason, I was a little apprehensive to start this book as I thought I might love it but I might also not like it. My only regret is not starting this earlier, honestly! This book surprised me so much in the most positive way!
We follow this group of 6 people through this quest to assassinate the god King. There’s loads at stake, they don’t know each other and kind of need to come together to see it through. Everyone is hiding secrets and their own motivations and this is very high stakes! The plan itself it’s quite marvellous to see through, we get everyone’s POV which was delightful and there’s a couple plot twists (one that I did not see coming).
I liked all characters, the girls (Sora and Aeri) were definitely my favourite and I really enjoyed all the side romances between the characters! I’m still not sure what to make out of Mikail and he’s definitely my least favourite of their group. I enjoyed how they were all different but once put together, they compliment each other quite well and were all needed! There’s loads of political plotting and scheming that kept me on the edge of the seat - this was definitely a book I did not want to put down!
Also, in case you thought like me, a little heads-up: this is not a standalone.
